The Office of the Executive Director
Within the scope of AFLA and in compliance with Law No. 4/L-017 on Free Legal Aid, the Office of the Executive Director is the central office of the legal aid system and is the body of the Agency. This Office has the role of the Agency secretariat and is responsible for the administration of the legal aid system, supervision of the free legal aid regional offices and supervising the performance of all staff employed in legal aid system according to their contracts. The Office is responsible for administering the legal aid and implementation of legal aid policies in all aspects.
Competences and responsibilities of the Executive Director are:
- To coordinate the work of the free legal system,
- To prepare the proposed annual budget for the Agency,
- To propose the structure of the Agency to be adopted by the Council,
- To employ and supervise Agency staff,
- To contract goods and services needed for the functioning of the free legal aid system,
- To organise training for the providers of free legal aid;
- To undertake awareness campaigns on free legal aid system,
- To prepare annual reports and other reports upon the request of the Council,
- To maintain registers and keep documentation and data relating to the functioning of the Agency;
- For his work, the Executive Director will report to the Council,
